Description
Additional Information

Bisphenol A, scientifically known as 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane, abbreviated as diphenylolpropane.

White crystals with a melting point of 156~158℃. Mainly used for the preparation of epoxy resins (accounting for about 65%) and polycarbonate (accounting for about 35%). Its potassium or sodium salts are raw materials for the production of polysulfones, and a small amount is used as a rubber antioxidant (see rubber additives).

  Main Applications

  Polymer Materials Field:

Polycarbonate (PC): Accounts for 35% of bisphenol A consumption, used to manufacture bulletproof glass, optical lenses, electronic and electrical housings, etc.

Epoxy Resin: Accounts for 65%, used in marine coatings, electronic packaging materials, and composite materials (such as PCB substrates).

Other Materials: Synthesis of polysulfones and polyphenylene ether resins, used in high-end engineering plastics.

  Food Packaging and Medical Devices:

Epoxy resin coatings are used for the inner walls of food cans, and polycarbonate is used for beverage bottles and milk bottles (but has been restricted by many countries due to safety controversies).

Hydrogenated bisphenol A epoxy resin is used for food contact materials, combining heat resistance and flexibility.

  Other Fields:

Flame Retardants: Tetrabromobisphenol A is used for fireproofing electronic device housings.

Rubber Antioxidants: Extending the service life of rubber products
